I am Commisioned! You said go, Jesus! Luke 24:36-53

comisioned 3

Oh boy! That day, that day! On the road to Emmaus, we had learned so much! He explained the scriptures to us and since we were willing to spend time with Jesus, He opened our eyes! He opened our ears! We were able to hear and understand! We understood the speech of the prophets!

The Messiah had visited us! the one they spoke about had been with us and we didn’t quite comprehend the fullness of His visitation. Who was He? The redeemer, God in human form, our ticket to freedom, our ticket to the Kingdom of God! The road to our true home when we accept His gift. Let me tell you, on that day, prior to seeing Him ascending to Heaven, He gave me my purpose and yours!

It happened that as we were speaking to our brothers and sisters and relating what had happened on Emmaus, they could not believe it! As we stood there, He appeared to us again and said: “Peace be to you” Most of our companions were terrified! Was this a ghost? A hallucination? Certainly, there was no alcohol in our midst at this time!

He said to us in a calm manner: “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? What I understood is that He was perplexed at our lack of understanding. He had told us so many times that His purpose was to die for our sins and defeat death so that we could have life! If death is the ultimate fear and He conquered it, why were we troubled? We should have had joy as should you!

He showed us the proof of His battle and conquest. The signs were on His hands and feet and nothing would erase them. He still has them as we speak. He gave us a definition of a bodily form and a Spiritual form and said It was fully Him as He was previously. A body with flesh and bones as a Spirit alone does not have flesh and bones.

Through His description of body and Spirit, I partially understood how He described God as one and yet in three persons. God the father is a Spirit and God the son is the human body with the Spirit of God. God The Spirit has no limitations and is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. The three are one. One in essence in three persons. They function in conjunction with one another. Many times, He told us that if we had seen Him, we had seen the father.

I think about us as humans. There is a trinity within one individual. We are first of all a soul that is unique and has a body and a human spirit but when we accept Christ, then we have God’s Spirit within us. first Corinthians 2:11 says: “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man who is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.”

Jesus had conquered death and was proving to us that He was in a bodily form as He still is now. He asked for food, we gave Him a boiled fish and He ate it. He also reiterated His words as we seemed to easily forget that ALL what the prophets had said about Him was true and that there are things that are yet to be fulfilled. We are to know what is said in the book of the prophets and the Psalms.

Along those same lines, He reminded us that the first part had been fulfilled. That my friends, is that He rose from the dead and that the payment for my and your sins was done! Completed! Terminado! Finito! He commanded us to proclaim this truth throughout the world. We are to proclaim repentance for forgiveness of sins in His name.

It was here that I understood nothing else mattered! It was here we understood that all the troubles of this world are nothing in comparison to the life that awaits us! It was here that I was reborn! Reborn to a new identity! The one that bears His image through the Holly Spirit!

I have been commissioned to bring this news to you and you to others. To the whole world! Tell them to have peace in Him! tell them to rejoice and not to fret, to not be troubled and doubt. As it was said from the beginning, it has happened! The Scriptures are being fulfilled and we know how the story ends! There is life in Jesus! Repent from your sins and be saved!

On that day, He led us to Bethany and lifted up His hands and blessed us! He blessed us and rose up to Heaven as we ourselves will on judgement day! We rejoiced and praised God! I pray that you rejoice and praise Him as well! He has risened and will be back for us again!
