The word was God? John 1:1-5

the Holly story book

We will be moving on to the book of John; The apostle of Jesus who has been said Jesus loved. I used to question this statement. Didn’t Jesus loved all the apostles equally? Doesn’t He loves us all equally? The answer to my question went back to who wrote these statements.

It was John himself who wrote these statements. Was he wrong? No, I believe that John was certain of Jesus’s love for him. I think that if I say about me; Milagro, the woman who Jesus loved, is an accurate statement and I should have a certainty that this is the way it is. Jesus loves me and He loves you.

Because John was convinced of Jesus’s love, I believe that he was closest to Him. This is probably the reason why when Jesus was on the cross, He asked John to take care of His mother as a son (John 19:26-27) This same John, is the one who wrote the book of John, the three epistles of John and the book of Revelation in the new testament. History has extensively written about his emphasis on love, and due to this, he has been named the apostle of love.

Let us attempt to hear from John.

Little children: In the beginning was the word. In the very beginning our heavenly father created a world out of formless earth and water. The earth was formless and void and darkness was over the surface of the deep.

The Spirit of God moved over the surface of the waters and the word spoken out of His mouth said: Let there be light and there was light.(Genesis 1:2-3)

Our father created man in His image, He created them male and female for His glory and for His pleasure; Just as you have children. Think for a moment why do you want them? For companionship? To give and receive a form of love not comparable to any other? To raise them for a greater purpose? To give them good things? To make your world better? So did our Heavenly father.

God our father is an eternal Spirit but not formless. As we saw Jesus glorified, So is the father. Jesus said: if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father (John 14:9). We are souls born into this life with an earthly body and surrounded by earthly spirits. We are given a new Spirit through Jesus. Once we receive His Spirit, the end result is our glorification and sanctification as well.

Our father had knowledge of the schemes that the evil one would perform in this world. The darkness that was over the surface was its representation. He had taken with him one-third of the Angels to feed his desire for glory (Revelation 12:4). He knew the evil one would try by all means to use us for his pleasure and He put in us the free will to decide our destiny.

Jesus was there in the beginning with God. He was the plan, the word of God, not known to the evil one. It was His word to give us a choice to life and eternal redemption. He was to give us a new birth. A birth of water and Spirit. Baptism of water as submission and a proclamation of the knowledge of His sovereignty for the acceptance into His family.  And Baptism of the Spirit as our new identity as sons and daughters of the almighty God.

As new, we begin to change into our God-given identity. That word that was in the beginning continues to shine light to guide our path for our own transformation and glorification. In Him was life and the life was the light of man. This is our true life. We are the children of light.

Without Him, there was no hope. Through Him all things came into being and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. There would have been no hope for humanity or creation.

Romans 8:19-21 says “For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope  that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God”

The darkness that was over the surface of the deep in the beginning still exists and it is the evil one. We come into this world and darkness welcomes us, It’s spirits surround us. Even as the son of God came into this world and whose brilliance was overwhelming, still, darkness did not recognize Him or His light. It did not comprehend it for the enemy is powerful and blindfolds us when the Spirit of God is not in us.

The darkness is composed of the prince of this world as Jesus called him and those he keeps blindfolded. Those are souls unable to recognize the true light. Jesus said: Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “you must be born again.” The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:6-8)

The hope we have is that darkness rule will not remain forever. Jesus said in John 12:31″ “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out and I, If I am lifted up from the earth will draw all men to Myself. This promise He said before He went to the cross.

We know that He was lifted up!  Acts 1:9-12 says : “And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.  And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.  They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

So, let’s not forget to be ready for His second coming. The word, who is the one from the beginning is calling you and me to come to the light and become children of the living God. Are you a child of light? Have you been born again? The gift is for all of us no matter how deep in the dark we have gone. Come into the light, come into “The Word” The Master is calling you!
