While there is Time! Luke 13:31-35

Jesus is the Master of time, yet, His Ministry was often delineated by it. I don’t claim to understand the numeric language in the bible but there are numbers and times that are often used and reused as references. He said no one knew when He would be back again except for the Father but He said pay attention to what is going on and learn to decipher as you have learned to decipher the seasons and the weather signs.

Let’s see. He came over two thousand years after our earthly given father walked this world. For we are told that once we believe in Jesus, we are Abraham’s children by faith. Those who do not believe in Christ are of Adam descent but by faith can choose to claim their identity as paid by Christ. Jesus was here over two thousand years ago. He started His ministry when He was about thirty years old and the death and resurrection took three days. What does it all mean? I don’t know, but if beginning and end have a pattern, I would think we are getting closer to the end.

I know no one knows the time Jesus is coming back but the world is changing. You are going to say that it has always been changing, but perhaps not at this rate and not to this level. Look around you. See how many people are suffering. How much hatred! Look at the disasters that are falling and destroying people, the earth. The divisions and the total global chaos the world is in. We are even loosing concept of who we are, of our own humanity.

In this Scripture, Jesus was being warned by the Pharisees that His life was in danger and that He should leave the area because Herod was looking for Him to take His life. First of all, Do you think the Pharisees cared about what Herod might do to Jesus? Not at all!  The gospel writers tell us they wanted to kill him themselves. They probably had enough of hearing what Jesus had to say just as some of us do because it doesn’t align with what we think we want in life.

Jesus said: Go tell that fox “Behold I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow and the next day, for it cannot be that a Prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.” What was He saying? I know my time, and it is not over yet. I know where I will die, and it is not here. Jerusalem will kill Me as it has all the other prophets. This time is for Me to proclaim the good news of the gospel and to show them what freedom looks like. I will be back again!

His time was already set. In three days and it was to be accomplished. Did He not know what He was talking about? We know that He knew with exactitude. The gospel writers tell us that He resurrected and was physically seen by more than five hundred people. Out of those people, the first church was started and by their witnesses, and by the power of the Holy Spirit is that Jesus continues to change lives to this day. If not this way, then it is totally a miracle in itself.

Jesus was sad to see how those leaders of the people refused to allow the prophets to speak about God’s plans for they did not say what they wanted to hear. They instead killed every one of them. This is the power of Satan at its fullness. Jesus expressed His loving and frustrating desire to hold onto the people like a hen holds her chicks under her wings but they would not let Him. If a chick doesn’t want to be protected it would run away just like we do when we don’t want to see truth or we allow the enemy to keep us in bondage.

Today and tomorrow Jesus is still on the streets and He is knocking at your door. He wants to protect you and show you the way. Won’t you let Him? God has given you free will to decipher and choose for yourself. Please don’t close your eyes and don’t allow the enemy to close them for you. As He told Jerusalem at that time “Behold your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say: BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD”

Our house is not desolate for when we receive His gift of Salvation, we receive the promise of the Holy Spirit as He said in John 14:26 “But the helper, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to you remembrance all that I said to you.” Don’t wait until He comes back for we will all see and kneel before His presence. That will be the time completion for our choice. I pray that day will be a day when you rejoice!
