What can I say, I liked this movie! I could go watch it again. As a matter of fact I need an excuse to do it. Today I am saddened by what is going on in the world! It is not really news. Anymore, it seems it is more a way of life. Friends, like wonder woman, we are all warriors and are here for a purpose! In this war of good and evil, YOU MUST CHOOSE WHICH SIDE YOU ARE ON! STOP SLEEPING, AWAKEN, RISE UP AND USE YOUR MINAS, YOUR TALENTS!
On our reading today, Jesus tells a parable that give us a clue of our existence and purpose. It says in Luke 19:11 While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because “He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that The Kingdom of God was going to appear immediately. “Not as you think yet” Jesus seems to be saying. Let me tell you how it is going to occur.
He said: Like a Nobleman who went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself and was to return. As he called ten of his slaves and gave them ten minas; one mina per slave and charged them with the task of doing business with it until he came back. That Noble man represents Me and those slaves represent you.
I have been given Dominion over all creation to rescue it from its faith and restore it to My Father’s perfect plan. I have come to fight for you but though it will be finished soon and I will conquer and release the world from the present ruler. You must lay your life as I am laying mine, to help bring others to salvation and invest the gifts received for that purpose until I come back.
Those who choose this world instead of My Kingdom, will hate me and will refuse to come to Me. They will also refuse to listen and will ignore My commandments and My teachings, but you, use all I have given you to show those that are willing, the way and bring them to Me for I am the truth and the Life (John 14:6)
I am going to My Father for a time and when I come back, I will take account of what you have done with your gifts and how you have used them for My purposes. I have bought you with a price and as you have accepted my gift, you belong to Me. As the nobleman required earnings from the minas he entrusted his slaves with, so will I from the gifts entrusted to you.
Three examples of responses have been given in the noblemen’s story. The first slave invested his given mina and brought back ten more. Can you tell he cared for his master’s bussiness? He must have loved his master, must have been thankful for the task he was entrusted and must have wanted to please Him. Do you love Me? Do you trust Me?
The second slave was not as successful as the first one for out of the mina he was entrusted, he brough back five more. The master was also pleased and rewarded him. Perhaps he got distracted and did not used his mina to its fullest potential, yet, he still worked toward his master’s business.
The third, brought nothing back. He, as the previous ones had been entrusted with a mina but chose to do nothing with it. His selfish attitude hindered the mina’s potential to be multiplied as he was afraid for his own skin out of ignorance about his master’s character. He said to his master:”Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief; for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man. You take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.
As the nobleman said to the worthless slave: “By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? I will say to you as well. Do you know Me? Have you taken time to know My will in your life? My purpose and the plans I have for you? Are you mistaken about my character?
Such slave represents the one who does not really believe in Me and does not unite in the work we are to do. Remember that I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.(John 15:5)
There are rewards in My Father’s Kingdom and as the nobleman rewarded the faithful servants, so will I reward you when on My second coming I find you faithful. I will entrust you with more or take away what I have given you from the beginning including the freedom you have in Me and the life you are to inherit. Such loss will be experienced by those who have been unfaithful as the unfaithful servant.
Remember that in the story the noble man entrusted all ten slaves with a mina each? Where are the others? did they become part of those who chose not to be part of his kingdom? And so as such, they perished and suffered the rewards of their choosing. My kingdom will come whether you want it or not. As the ruler of this world is condemned to perish so out of your choosing you stand to be condemned as well when you refuse the citizenship I gladly offer you.
How about you my friend? What are you doing with your minas, talents, gifts? Ephesians 4:8 says that when Jesus ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives and He gave gifts to man. You can only find your gifts as you dine with Him and learn from Him. As we do, we are able to become the warriors we are destined to be out of the love for Him, out of the love for our neighbor.
Let us not become blinded or desensitized to the evil in the world and as we see those that are suffering because of it. let us unite forces with our king and fight! FIGHT WITH THE TOOLS HE HAS GIVEN YOU! In the movie wonder woman Diana leaves the safety of her home to fight alongside men in a war that she knows is led by one powerful enemy and she has the power to destroy it and end all wars. It is in this that she fulfills her destiny!
